A few weeks ago, I told you a little about the upcoming Frontyard Festival, a six-month event hosted by Dr. Phillips Center, and this week I found out more details, including a start date, and initial acts booked for the festival.
Hands on a Hardbody, the award-winning musical based on the documentary film of the same name, will be performed at the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden January 29 through February 21.
The story focuses on ten contestants who vie for a “hardbody” truck in Longview, Texas. The last contestant who has his or her hands on the truck wins it. The truck is a Nissan “hardbody” pickup.
Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF will present Les Miserables from September 10 – October 12 in the Margeson Theater at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center.
This award-winning classic tale by Victor Hugo, is set in early 19th century France. It tells the tale of a French peasant named Jean Valjean and his years-long quest for redemption after serving almost two-decades in prison for stealing a loaf of bread.
Featuring a talented mix of Broadway veterans and Orlando Shakes favorites, this will be the largest musical production in the OST’s history.
The cast is headlined by Orlando native Davis Gaines (Javert), a veteran of the stages in New York and Los Angeles, and the longest-running Phantom in the L.A. productions of The Phantom of the Opera.
The award-winning musical Wicked is bringing the Land of Oz back to Orlando for a run at the Bob Carr P.A.C., February 20 through March 10, 2013.
Set before the events in The Wizard of Oz, Wicked tells the story of two girls who meet in Oz, and eventually become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
Shows are daily, except on Mondays, during the run. There are also matinees on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as the first Thursday.
Ticket prices range from $45 to $155, depending on the show date and time. Purchase tickets online or at the Amway Center or Bob Carr P.A.C. box office.
This show is family-friendly.
