Les Miserables, Victor Hugo’s novel documenting the conditions of early 1800s France as it struggled with poverty and that relatively new idea of democracy, was adapted into a musical with legions of fans who return to the story of Jean Valjean, Cosette, Marius and the revolutionary students of Paris over and over again.

Whether this is your first time seeing the show or your 100th, the US Touring production has arrived at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, bringing with it new ideas of its own.

Les Miserables Will Open the 26th Season of Orlando Shakespeare Theater Sept 10 – Oct 12, 2014

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF will present Les Miserables

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF will present Les Miserables from September 10 – October 12 in the Margeson Theater at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center.

This award-winning classic tale by Victor Hugo, is set in early 19th century France. It tells the tale of a French peasant named Jean Valjean and his years-long quest for redemption after serving almost two-decades in prison for stealing a loaf of bread.

Featuring a talented mix of Broadway veterans and Orlando Shakes favorites, this will be the largest musical production in the OST’s history.

The cast is headlined by Orlando native Davis Gaines (Javert), a veteran of the stages in New York and Los Angeles, and the longest-running Phantom in the L.A. productions of The Phantom of the Opera.

Broadway Across America Announces 2011-2012 Season for Bob Carr P.A.C.

Even though Wicked is currently holding court at the Bob Carr P.A.C. as part of the Broadway Across America series, there’s a whole new season of traveling productions that will be making their way to Orlando.

Newly announced as part of the upcoming 2011-2012 season are the following shows:

  • November 1-5, 2011 – The Addams Family
  • December 6-11, 2011 – South Pacific
  • January 17-22, 2012 – Les Miserables
  • February 15-26, 2012 – Billy Elliot The Musical
  • April 17-May 13, 2012 – Disney’s The Lion King
  • June 5-10, 2012 – La Cage Aux Folles
