10th Annual Pulse Remembrance Events 2026

2026 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Pulse tragedy here in Orlando, and the city has several events of remembrance for the public to partake in.

I was at home the evening of June 12, 2016, when I saw messages appear on (then) Twitter saying a gunman has opened fire in Orlando’s Pulse nightclub and everyone needed to get out.

When it was all over, there were 49 deaths and 58 injuries in one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.

Despite the horrific tragedy, our city came together under the hashtaga #OrlandoStrong, and #OrlandoUnited, and in honor of the 49 lives lost, and all of those affected by the Pulse tragedy, The City of Orlando deemed June 12 Orlando United Day – A Day of Love and Kindness.

Now 10 years later, the city remembers with several events happening this week:

June 8-14

Prayer Ribbons Memorial Exhibition at City Hall Plaza

Following the Pulse tragedy, Orlando received love from communities around the country and the globe. Ten years later, support is still coming to our community.

Artist Jay Critchley from the Provincetown Community Compact in Massachusetts is again sending colorful ribbons with messages of support that were created for our community after the tragedy. The ribbons will be on display for free in front of City Hall.

June 11

Del Ambiente Hosts a Baquiné, An Afro-Puerto Rican Healing Ritual to Honor the 49 Victims, Survivors, and Families.

The event will take place at Spirit of Joy Church (1801 Rouse Rd, Orlando, FL 32817). Centered on the Baquiné, an ancestral practice that honors life amid loss through music and dance, the event will foster remembrance and connection. Doors will open at 7pm. The Baquiné ceremony, accompanied by an artistic program, is scheduled from 7:30pm – 8:30pm.

Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, co-founder of national gun violence prevention group GIFFORDS, will deliver remarks to survivors and families at the event.

June 12

2026 City of Orlando Pulse Remembrance Ceremony

The City of Orlando invites the community to gather in a collective spirit of love and remembrance at the annual Pulse Remembrance Ceremony at the First United Methodist Church (142 East Jackson Street) in Downtown Orlando.

This event honors the 49 angels taken while also recognizing the enduring strength of the families, survivors, first responders, and trauma teams who were forever changed on June 12, 2016.

This evening of reflection will feature musical performances from local cultural artists, and the Orlando Gay Chorus, and a special presentation by City of Orlando Poet Laureate Camara Gaither. This year’s event will also include participation from the Angel Action Wings, a volunteer group that has spent more than ten years spreading messages of love and acceptance across our city.

As the evening concludes, the community will join together for a candlelight ceremony and reading of the 49 names, allowing us to look back on the compassion and unity that continue to define the spirit of Orlando United.

Through June 15

Lighting the Pulse Memorial Site

In remembrance of the 49 Angels, the Pulse Memorial site (1912 South Orange Avenue) will be illuminated from dusk until dawn each night through June 15.

This quiet activation serves as a peaceful visual tribute, marking a decade of resilience since June 12, 2016.

The Colonialtown Square Park Labyrinth

The Labyrinth (820 N Fern Creek Ave) serves as a serene, permanent memorial honoring the 49 victims of the 2016 Pulse nightclub tragedy. It offers a quiet, contemplative space for walking meditation, healing, and remembrance within the neighborhood.

Built with brick pavers, the 11-circuit medieval Chartres-style design provides a winding, mindful walking path.The Center: The core of the labyrinth features an “Orlando United” heart, designed with a stained-glass and rainbow-patchwork motif.The Memorial: The outer ring of the labyrinth incorporates dedicated pavers bearing the names of each of the 49 victims.
