Taco Bell Tests Vegan Crunchwrap in Orlando

Taco Bell Tests Vegan Crunchwrap

Inspired by requests for vegan options on its menu, Taco Bell is testing a modern vegan twist on a menu classic in three markets, including Orlando.

After years of testing and tasting, the creative chefs behind the Taco Bell Test Kitchen feel they have unlocked the perfect recipe for its first fully vegan entree item: the Vegan Crunchwrap.

The Vegan Crunchwrap features vegan seasoned beef, which Taco Bell says is a “proprietary, boldly seasoned plant-based protein that has been in the works for years.”

It’s then topped with cool vegan blanco sauce and warm vegan nacho sauce, which have also long been in development to refine proprietary flavors.

Then it’s topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a crunchy tostada shell, all inside a flour tortilla.

Taco Bell says all ingredients in this menu item are certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association. It should be noted, however, vegan test locations may use the same frying oil to prepare menu items that may or may not contain animal ingredients, and since everything is prepared in the same area, cross-contamination could occur.

The company also says that since this is just a test market item, the individual ingredients can not be used in any other item on the menu.

If you want to give the Vegan Crunchwrap a try, it’s only being tested at the Taco Bell at 11893 East Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32826.

It’s listed in the app at $4.99, which is the same price as the regular and vegetarian Crunchwrap Supremes.

If you’re not in Orlando, the Vegan Crunchwrap is also being tested in Los Angeles (6741 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028), and New York City (976 6th Ave, New York, NY 10018).
