Looking for something artistic to occupy the kids this week? The Orlando Shakespeare Theater is presenting Sleeping Beauty now through July 28.
In this version of the story, Princess Rose is celebrating her birthday with the entire kingdom until a bitter, wise woman named Wartsuch interrupts the festivities. She casts a wicked curse on the little princess, dooming her to a 100-year sleep. This updated retelling of a beloved fairytale comes complete with a cell phone, handsome prince, and a magical kiss.
Arrive early, as members of the cast will engage the audience in interactive pre-show fun for the whole family. There is also an autograph session after the performance so the kids can meet the actors.
Tickets are $9 for shows Tuesday through Friday (10:30am), and $12 for shows on Saturday and Sunday (2pm and 4:30pm). They are are available by calling 407-447-1700, visiting Orlando Shakes online at orlandoshakes.org, or in person at the box office located inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 East Rollins Street in Orlando’s Loch Haven Cultural Park.
