For the second year, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will once again join forces with Full Sail University to present Symphony in HD: Live at Full Sail University, a high-tech concert gala to benefit the orchestra.
Set to take place May 31, the event will feature the full Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Christopher Wilkins, in a concert accompanied by animation, film, lighting effects and other visual elements created by students and faculty of Full Sail University.
It will be held at Full Sail Live (141 University Park Drive, Winter Park), starting at 6:30pm, with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction on Full Sail’s Hollywood-style film set, the Backlot.
At 8pm, guests will enter Full Sail Live to enjoy a three-course meal and a concert program entitled “Music of the Night,” featuring the full Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and guest appearance by former Broadway ‘Phantom,’ Davis Gaines, accompanied by visuals from Full Sail’s students and faculty.
The evening also includes a live auction and an outdoor post-concert party with Orlando Philharmonic musicians and Full Sail faculty.
Tickets to the fundraising event are $250 per person. Corporate tables and sponsorships are available. For more information about Symphony in HD, to purchase tickets or to become a sponsor, visit OrlandoPhil.org/HD or call 407-896-6700 x236.
If you watch the locally-produced morning show, The Daily Buzz, you may have not recognized the show this week.
More precisely, you may not have recognized the four new hosts.
To kick off The Daily Buzz’s 11th season, on August 6, the show received a new set and four new hosts.
Charles Divins (an actor who spent five years on the soap “Passions”), Lisa Spooner (a morning anchor from Fort Meyers), Lance Smith (former host of CMT’s “Top 20 Countdown”), and Jessica Reyes (a Toyota of Orlando spokesperson) are the new faces gracing The Daily Buzz.
They replace former hosts Andrea Jackson, Andy Campbell, and Mitch English (who left a month earlier).
The show continues to shoot at Full Sail University in Winter Park, but with a new set. Originally, the quartet were seated facing each other at a table, but that has been tweaked per viewer response to the forward facing-the-camera style of delivering the news.
In Orlando, the nationally syndicated show airs from 6am-7am weekday mornings on WRDQ-Channel 27.
