Conductor Eric Jacobsen

Conductor Eric Jacobsen, who among his many hats also serves as Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s Music Director, appears on an upcoming album Blue As The Turquoise Night, which will be released November 12.

Jacobsen collaborated with GRAMMY-winners Kayhan Kalhor + Sandeep Das, acclaimed cellist Karen Ouzounian, the New York Gypsy All Stars, and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony on the album.

The first single has been released, called “Balkan Bollywood,” and it is inspired not only by Indian film tracks, but also by Turkish melodies and Balkan ornamentation to create a unique dance floor groove.

I really enjoyed this instrumental track, and you can check it out via the official video:

About the album, Jacobsen said, “As a conductor, I wanted to share this music I love so much with orchestral musicians and audiences, literally amplifying its sound and impact. And all of us wanted these pieces to have a larger-scale life beyond the small ensemble world in which they were born. Then, after performing the pieces together in concert, we couldn’t wait to share them even more widely. All of this music, born of the most ancient influences and reborn in these new versions, feels both so timeless and yet so completely of this moment.”

Blue As The Turquoise Night is available for pre-order from online outlets like Amazon (affiliate link).
