Austin-based Hopdoddy Burger Bar plans to open its first Florida restaurant at Pointe Orlando later this year, in the space formerly occupied by Funky Monkey, on the center’s lower level.

Hopdoddy has 23 locations in the United States, and is known for its burger, salads and handcrafted milkshakes, plus it has a full bar. It also operates the Goodnight / Good Cause Burger program: for every Goodnight burger ordered, $1 is donated to a charitable organization doing amazing works in our community.

It’s scheduled to open before the end of the year. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear a definitive date.

Oblivion Taproom will close for a second time on May 26, according to a post on its Facebook page. It first announced it was closing in January 2016, but the next month, announced it would be reopening. This time looks permanent, though, since they’re selling off furniture and more.

Also set to close is Emeril’s Orlando at Universal CityWalk. The last date of operations is July 7, and no replacement has been announced for the space, yet. Emeril’s Orlando opened in 1999, serving up New Orleans-inspired dishes. Emeril Lagasse’s other Orlando restaurant, Tchoup Chop, closed Dec 31 of last year at Loews Royal Pacific resort.

“We have deeply enjoyed the opportunity to serve our loyal guests and are immensely appreciative to our entire staff for their dedication and service,” Lagasse said in a statement. “I am thankful to the entire team at Universal CityWalk for their valued relationship and for the opportunity to operate here.”
