Orlando Shakespeare Theater Presents Monty Python’s Spamalot September 9 – October 11

The Orlando Shakespeare Theater is opening their 27th season in grand style with Monty Python’s SPAMALOT from September 9 to October 11.

Based on the classic film Monty Python and The Holy Grail, this saucy musical parody tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table from a Python point of view.

On a quest for the Holy Grail, the Knights encounter flying cows, killer rabbits, and taunting Frenchmen while performing heart-stopping musical numbers. Winner of three Tony Awards including “Best Musical”, Monty Python’s SPAMALOT takes silliness to a whole new level.

“Following the incredible success of last season’s Les Misérables, we’re excited to present our audiences with something completely different this year,” said SPAMALOT Director Jim Helsinger

The main cast is headlined by Orlando native Davis Gaines as King Arthur. He is best known for playing the title role in The Phantom of the Opera over 2000 times, and remains Los Angeles’ longest-running Phantom. He also played Javert in last year’s Orlando Shakes version of Les Miserables.

His Les Mis cast mate Michael Hunsaker (Jean Valjean in the Orlando Shakes production), will take on the role of Sir Dennis Galahad.

The Lady of the Lake will be played by Dee Roscioli, who is best known for her portrayal of Elphaba in Broadway’s Wicked.

Additional casting includes T. Robert Pigott as Sir Robin, Brad DePlanche as Patsy, Philip Nolen as Sir Bedevere, and Chris Crawford as Prince Herbert/Historian.

Tickets for the previews on September 9 and 10 range from $15 to $30 per person. From September 11 on, tickets range from $30 to $60. Opening night is September 11, and ticket holders are welcome to attent the free opening night party and pre-show chat, starting at 6:15pm.

Following Opening Night, performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2pm matinee performances Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Performances will be in the Margeson Theater at John & Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center (812 E. Rollins, Orlando).
