Out and About: Pepper, Grieves, and RDGLDGRN at House of Blues Sept 12, 2013

Last night I headed out to the House of Blues to check out the triple bill of Pepper, Grieves, and RDGLDGRN. I got there shortly before 8pm, and was able to get a prime spot on the lower level against a railing, that had me eye level with the stage.

Those that got there early were able to check out the first act, RDGLDGRN. I like this band. The trio (along with a guest drummer) powered through a set that got the crowd dancing and waving their hands to the beat. I was disappointed they didn’t do my fave song, “Lootin’ in London,” but the rest of their set was tight, despite a temporary mic problem during one song. Good band – you should check them out.

Pepper and RDGLDGRN to Rock House of Blues Orlando on September 12, 2013

If you like feelgood indie rock, then you’ll want to check out the double bill of Pepper and RDGLDGRN at the House of Blues Orlando on September 12.

Pepper and RDLDGRN at HOB OrlandoPepper formed in Hawaii in 1997, moving to the mainland two years later. Their music reflects this, as their indie rock sound definitely has an island rhythm to it.

Their newest self-titled CD, Pepper, was released on September 3, and is full of upbeat rock tunes about love and having fun. “Mess Around” (“F*ck Around” on the explicit version), is a stand out earwig that will have you dancing with its feel-good vibe.

Joining them on the bill is RDGLDGRN, and their debut CD, Red Gold Green LP, was also released on September 3. This trio from the D.C. music scene fuses indie rock and hip hop into a sound all their own.

The album features Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl on the drums while producer Pharrell Williams helped pen the future single “Doing The Most.”  My personal favorite track is “Lootin’ In London.”

Tickets to the show are $25 in advance online or at the HOB box office, and $27 day of show. This show is all ages. House of Blues Orlando is located at Downtown Disney West Side at Walt Disney World.

To warm you up for the show, here are videos from Pepper and RDGLDGRN:
