Orlando Philharmonic Holds Annual Holiday Concert November 30, 2013

On Saturday, November 30, the Orlando Philharmonic will perform its annual “Home for the Holidays” concerts at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.

Orlando Philharmonic HolidaysConducted by Albert George Schram, this year’s program will feature the entire Orlando Philharmonic with The Holiday Singers and the Florida Opera Theatre Youth Chorus. There will also be special appearances by dancers from Orlando Ballet, an aerialist, and bagpipers from the Rosie O’Grady Highlanders.

Home for the Holidays” will include seasonal favorites like “The Little Drummer Boy,” “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “I Saw Three Ships,” along with classical selections such as Overture to “Die Fledermaus,” contemporary works like “Wassail, Wassail All Over the Tuba,” and a special performances of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” with narrator.

Orlando Philharmonic Opens Season with Concert and Dinner Gala on Sept 28

The Orlando Philharmonic will open its 2013-2014 season with a concert at Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, September 28, 2013.

Conducted by Music Director Christopher Wilkins, the program will include Nelson’s Savannah River Holiday, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20, featuring guest pianist Jon Kimura Parker and Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life).

Prior to the concert there will be an opening night dinner gala, hosted by the Friends of the Orlando Philharmonic at the Sheraton Downtown Orlando beginning at 5:45pm. There will be music, mingling, cocktails, and dinner followed by an elegant post concert reception. Black tie optional.

Tickets for the dinner gala are $110 per person, available at FriendsOrlandoPhil.org. Friends members tickets are $95. Concert tickets are sold separately.

C.S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters Returns to Orlando on February 2, 2013

It played to capacity audiences the last time it was performed in Orlando, so C.S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters is returning to Orlando for two shows on February 2, 2013.

cslewisscrewtapesThe theatrical adaptation of the provocative and funny novel about spiritual warfare from a demon’s point of view will play at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.

Ticket prices are $39 to $59, for each of the shows at 4pm and 8pm. There are also a limited numer of student tickets for $25 for each performance (student I.D. required).
