Last night CitySurfing Orlando was invited to opening night of the return of “Six The Musical” at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and we, along with the rest of the audience, had so much fun!

“Six The Musical” tells the story of the six wives of Henry the VIII, with each wife telling her story. This musical is presented as a concert with each wife getting her turn in the spotlight.

But the show is more than an energetic history…er… HERstory lesson, it’s also about sisterhood and the power of women as we learn how each woman became one of the wives.

The six wives are also backed onstage by a fierce, four-piece, all-female band known as the Ladies-in-Waiting. led by a female conductor.

The soundtrack is one of my favorites, and each of the wives were spectacular in their roles, but my favorite part of the show is when Anna of Cleves, played by Hailey Slexis Lewis, tells her story in the songs “Haus of Holbein” (a nod to her German heritage) and the sassy “Get Down.”

Since “Six the Musical” is presented as a concert, there is no intermission, but by the time the last song “Six” is performed, you haven’t noticed nearly two hours have passed as everyone is dancing and singing with the cast.

“Six the Musical” is at the Dr. Phillips Center through this Sunday, June 7th, and you most certainly won’t want to miss this fun high-energy show. Tickets are available at DrPhillipsCenter.org and at the venue box office.

It closes out the AdventHealth Broadway in Orlando 25/26 Season. Tickets for the 26/27 Season are also on sale at the link above.
