Black Theatre Girl Magic, a leading producer of culturally-rich events, is hosting two events in honor of Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.
“3rd Facets of Freedom: Arts in Celebration of Juneteenth,” will be held at the Renaissance Theatre Company in Orlando on June 19, 2023 from 7pm to 11pm.
The event will have musical performances, dance, and spoken word that showcase the richness of African American artistry and the resilience of their community.
In addition, they will have a visual art exhibit featuring Black Central Florida artists, giving everyone an opportunity to appreciate their unique talents and perspectives, as well as purchase local Black artwork.
Tickets are $25 a person, and can be purchased at the event’s ticket page. They include access to all of the performances, as well as food and drinks from participating Black owned vendors.
All proceeds will go to support local organizations that are working to promote racial justice and equity.
Black Theatre Girl Magic will also host the “3rd Annual Lunch and Learn: A Juneteenth Experience for Kids,” to be held on June 18, from 11am to 3pm at the Orlando Repertory Theatre, with help from the Florida Theatre Association.
This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before, with a range of interactive and educational activities that will engage and inspire children of all ages.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the history and significance of Juneteenth, the celebration of African American freedom and achievement.
Activities will include interactive exhibits, performances, and crafts that will help children learn about the history of Juneteenth and the contributions of African Americans throughout history.
In addition, a free BBQ lunch will be provided to all attendees, and there will be other food vendors selling desserts and other goodies.
This free event is open to the public and is designed for children of all ages. To attend the event, they ask that all attendees register in advance on Eventbrite.
