Florida Back to School Sales Tax Holiday 2021

It’s almost time to get ready to go back to school, and this year, the Florida Senate passed legislation for the return of the Florida Back to School Sales Tax Holiday from July 31-Aug 9, 2021.

During this holiday period, Florida law directs that no sales tax or local option tax (also known as discretionary sales surtax) will be collected on purchases of:

  • Certain school supplies selling for $15 or less per item
  • Clothing, footwear, and certain accessories selling for $60 or less per item
  • The first $1,000 of the sales price of personal computers and certain computer-related accessories purchased for noncommercial home or personal use

The sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.

So whether you’re buying supplies for your family or for yourself, don’t miss this opportunity to save a little bit on your purchases.
