Osceola Arts will present the hit musical "Once on the Island" for a limited engagement online

Starting this weekend, Osceola Arts will present the hit musical “Once on the Island” for a limited engagement online for theater fans to enjoy at home.

The musical, originally slated for the live stage in March, will be filmed and streamed at scheduled times from Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 9th.

Once on this Island” tells the story of a peasant girl who falls in love with a wealthy boy from the other side of their tropical island. She begins a difficult journey to prove love is stronger than death, guided by the Calypso Gods. Ti Moune ultimately breaks the societal wall and unites the people of her island.

The production, directed by Dominic Del Brocco, has been restaged to respect social distance guidelines for the safety of the cast.

Tickets are only $20, and 75% of ticket sales will benefit Greater Are We, Inc., a local non- profit organization that provides access to academic resources, extracurricular activities, and youth development opportunities for underserved youth.

The online streaming of “Once on this Island” will begin at 7:30pm on Friday, July 31st, and also run at 2pm and 7:30pm from Saturday, August 1st through Sunday, August 9th.
