Darden Restaurants has announced it is partnering with Feeding America and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to increase access to food for those in need in Orlando, via refrigerated trucks.
There’s a lot of Central Florida foodie news to report on from new collaborations and restaurants, to meal deals and closings.
Here is the news you need to know this week:
Earlier this week we were invited to a pre-opening event to get to know the new Yard House, which opened April 24 in Orlando. It is located on International Drive, in the new I-Drive 360 complex that is currently being constructed.
The Yard House is known for its extensive beers on tap – the Orlando location has 150 of them, ranging from domestics and imports to craft beers, ales and lagers. The kegs are kept in a specially cooled room with blue lights, and distributed to the taps on the floor through a literal pipeline that travels the ceiling down to the bar area. Inside the pipes are dozens of individual beer lines.
The location will be on International Drive at the new I-Drive Live development on the former site of the Mercado, just south of Sand Lake Dr.
Yard House is an upscale-casual American eatery (burgers, sandwiches, tacos, steaks, pastas, etc.) that is best known for having more than 100 international, craft and specialty ales and lagers on tap.
I visited the one in downtown San Diego a few years back, and I enjoyed it. I visited during happy hour, with some great drink specials.
Reportedly the Orlando location will have over 14,000-sq-ft, with a seating capacity of 400. It will be the 6th Florida location for the brand.
