Orlando Pride, Central Florida’s first female professional soccer team, kicks off their inaugural season on April 23 against the Houston Dash.
In their bid to play to a sold-out stadium, the team is hosting a week of #FilledWithPride events prior to the first game.
Here is the schedule of events:
Hot on the heels of city’s excitement over our first major league soccer team, today it was announced that next year, we will get our first Women’s National Soccer League Team, the Orlando Pride.
The announcement was made yesterday at Lake Eola by Orlando City Soccer Club Founder and President Phil Rawlins, with Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Orlando City Mayor Buddy Dyer in attendance.
At a press conference yesterday, it was announced that the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team would be coming to Orlando on October 25 to take on Brazil at the Citrus Bowl.
The game is part of a 10-match victory tour to celebrate the USA team winning the World Cup title this summer in Canada, and the Orlando game will be broadcast nationally on cable’s FOX Sports 1. Kickoff is at 3pm.
