Universal Orlando Next Park to Raise Ticket Prices Again

Less than a week after Walt Disney World raised their ticket prices, another Orlando theme park has announced their rates have gone up, too.

Universal Orlando‘s one-day/one-park tickets for adults are now $102, up $6 from the previous price. Meanwhile a one-day/two-park ticket (needed if you want to ride Hogwart’s Express) is now $147.

There are discounts for multi-day passes. A two-day/two-park pass is $194.99 (with a bonus 3rd day for a limited time), a three-day/two-park pass is $204.99, and so on.

Florida residents get better deals on multi-day passes. A two-day/two-park pass is $150.99, and a three-day/two-park pass is $160.99.

Sharknado 3 Filming at Universal Orlando This Week

Originally filming under the name “Vortex 3,” it came to light this week that Sharknado 3 was actually the movie filming at Universal Orlando.

The third installment of the film series, which stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo, will follow the storm-surge of flying sharks causing mass destruction in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., before roaring down the Eastern Seaboard and into Florida. Once in the Sunshine State, they attack a guests at a theme park in Orlando.

Sharknado 3 is the follow-up sequel to 2014’s Sharknado 2: The Second One, which is currently Syfy’s most watched original movie of all time and includes numerous cameos from celebrities. I’m sure this second sequel will also have many cameos.

This month, vocalist Steve Augeri will be performing on Thursday, February 26. Augeri is best known as the former vocalist for rock band Journey, so I’m sure the set list will include many of the band’s hits. He also has recorded many of his own songs, which are really good.

Every month, except November and December, the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando hosts a live concert called Velvet Sessions. It’s a 21 and over event that features classic rock and pop artists performing in an intimate club-like atmosphere.

This month, southern rocker Jimmie Van Zant will be performing on Thursday, January 29. Van Zant is a cousin of Ronnie Van Zant, who helped form Lynyrd Skynyrd, and grew up in a musical family. He released his debut album, Southern Comfort, in 2000, which features “Ronnie’s Song,” an ode to his cousin.

Tickets are $29 in advance online or $35 at the door. This not only gets you in the door, but free specialty drinks, finger foods and warm-up tunes from 6:30 pm until show time. Complimentary valet parking is also included.

Universal Orlando Starts Offering Hot Butterbeer

hot Butterbeer at Universal OrlandoButterbeer is served several ways at Universal Orlando – cold, frozen, and even as an ice cream flavor. Now, just in time for the colder Florida weather, the theme park is offering the flavor as a hot beverage.

That’s right, you can now order hot Butterbeer at both sections of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

In Diagon Alley at Universal Studios, it will be served at Leaky Cauldron, The Hopping Pot, and The Fountain of Fair Fortune. In Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure, it will be available at Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head Pub. It will be served year-round.

Since the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in June 2010, millions of Butterbeers have been sold each year at Universal Orlando. I’m sure this new hot version will help increase those numbers.

This weekend, Halloween Horror Nights 24 kicks off at Universal Studios at Universal Orlando, and there are scares a plenty planned for those who dare enter the park.

The event includes eight fully-immersive, startlingly-real haunted houses, two live shows and scare zones filled with hundreds of horrifying “scareactors.”

The horror awaiting is a awesome mix of both old and new franchises, including John Carpenter’s Halloween, Alien vs. Predator, Robert Rodriguez’s TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn,” the upcoming film Dracula: Untold, and SyFy’s “Face Off – In the Flesh.”

There are also three deviously-inspired original haunted houses will terrify guests as they “die laughing” in Giggles & Gore Inc., experience the terror of a community in cannibalistic turmoil in Roanoke – Cannibal Colony and face the horrors within the decaying walls of the Dollhouse of the Damned.

One Direction to Promote New Album with Appearance at Universal Orlando November 17, 2014

Universal Orlando will be taken over by global pop sensations One Direction on Monday, November 17, which happens to be the same day their new album, Four, drops.

One Direction will start the morning with a performance at Universal CityWalk, that will be aired live on NBC’s The Today Show. If you’re willing to get up extra early to see them, public viewing of the performance will be available throughout CityWalk, and it will be free to all.

Dial it up a notch and head into Universal Studios. With your paid admission, you can ride on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit coaster to the tunes of One Direction. Not enough 1D?? There will also be a special One Direction version of the Universal Cinematic Spectacular nighttime show.

See The Boxtrolls at Universal Orlando for a Limited Time

The BoxtrollsHave you seen the trailers for the upcoming family movie The Boxtrolls? Well, right now, you can meet the characters from the movie at Universal Studios at Universal Orlando.

The movie comes from the creators of Coraline and ParaNorman, and tells the story of a young orphan boy named Eggs raised by a new breed of family called The Boxtrolls, a community of quirky, mischievous creatures.

The Boxtrolls make daily appearances throughout the afternoons at the Character Party Zone located just outside The Horror Make-Up Show in Universal Studios.

Rock the Universe Returns to Universal Orlando September 5-6, 2014

Rock the Universe Christian music festival returns to Universal Orlando the weekend of September 5 and 6.

Musical acts on Friday include Third Day, Newsboys, and Jeremy Camp. On Saturday, bands include Switchfoot, Lecrae, and TobyMac. In addition to the music, there will be inspiring guest speakers, a candlelighting ceremony, and more.

The event takes place inside Universal Studios. During the event, many of the attractions will also be open, including the newly opened The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.

Universal Orlando Releases Video Sneak Peek of Goblins from Escape from Gringotts Ride

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts

It’s getting closer to the opening date of the new Diagon Alley section of Universal Studios, so Universal Orlando has released a short teaser video of the inside of Gringotts Bank, as well as concept art for load area of the ride.

These animatronic goblins populate the bank inside the Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts attraction that will be the centerpiece of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Diagon Alley.

According to Universal, more details will be released May 13, 2014.

Grinch and Macy’s Parade Return to Universal Orlando Holidays Starting December 7, 2013

Universal Orlando will celebrate holidays this year from December 7 to January 4, 2014, and all the familiar guest-favorite events are returning.

The Macy’s Holiday Parade will wind through the streets of Universal Studios nightly at 5pm, except December 26-31, when it starts at 8pm. New to the parade this year is Happy the Hippo, a recreation of a 1940s Macy’s balloon, which debuted in the New York City parade on Thanksgiving.

Following the parade, the acclaimed musical group Mannheim Steamroller will take to the Music Plaza stage in Universal Studios six nights this year to perform memorable holiday hits on Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22.

Over at Islands of Adventure, Seuss Landing will be home to the Grinchmas Wholiday Spectacular, a live musical starring The Grinch and the Whos from Who-ville, accompanied by an original musical score by Mannheim Steamroller. Guests can also meet the mean, green one himself and the Whos daily.

All theme park holiday entertainment, including Mannheim Steamroller concerts, are included in regular park admission.

Universal Orlando Gets Ready to Rock The Universe Again September 6-7, 2013

One of Universal Orlando‘s biggest annual events is Rock the Universe, which is a two day Christian music festival that will take place this year the weekend of September 6-7, 2013.

Universal Orlando Rock the UniverseAmong the headliners are 2012 Grammy winners Lecrae, Grammy award-winning group and Daytona Beach natives Casting Crowns; Grammy nominated and winner of 20 Dove Awards Chris Tomlin ; and rock band Switchfoot, which has sold millions of albums worldwide.

The full two-day line-up is as follows:

  • Friday, September 6: Switchfoot, Chris Tomlin, Crowder, Tenth Ave North, Family Force 5, Colton Dixon, and Kyle Sherman
  • Saturday, September 7: Casting Crowns, Jesus Culture, Lecrae, Relient K, Red, Everfound, and Crave

Returning this year is the Fan Zone presented by Coca-Cola where guests will enjoy live music by Dara McClean, OBB and Love & The Outcome, autograph sessions with the bands, karaoke and band merchandise.

Springfield Fully Opens at Universal Orlando

Fans of The Simpsons are shouting, “Woo-Hoo!” as word comes that the land of Springfield is now fully open at Universal Orlando.

Anchored by the mega-attraction, The Simpsons Ride, the newly-themed area includes many iconic locations from the hit animated series.

Enjoy a a “Genuine Clown-Endorsed Meal” and Buzz Cola at Krusty Burger, a “Taco Fresho” at Bumblebee Man’s Taco Truck, a slice that’s “a-nice” at Luigi’s Pizza, and the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman.

You can even snack on donuts at Lard Lad, drink a Flaming Moe at Moe’s Tavern, and hang out at Duff Brewery, where you can drink an actual Duff Beer.

Springfield is also home to the park’s newest ride, Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl. There’s plenty of chances to interact with your favorite characters from the show, too.
