DISENCHANTED!, the musical that won the Orlando International Fringe Festival’s 2011 Producer’s Award, makes its return to Orlando at The Abbey, September 19th-October 27th.
The show is a musical comedy about angry princesses desperate to wrestle their lives back from today’s pop culture. The original fairytale princesses are none too happy with the exploitation they’ve suffered in today’s films, books and dolls, so Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Hua Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas and more, are “storming the castle” in order to take their lives back.
Tickets are $40 for general admission and $50 for VIP (includes up-front seating at a cabaret table and a glass of wine). Tickets are available online, or at the box office. The story is made for mature audiences (rated PG-13), and patrons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Valet parking is an additional $5.
The Abbey is located at 100 S. Eola, in downtown Orlando.
Combine the Newlywed Game, classic board games, and a dance floor, and you have the makings of Coupled: The Game Show & Game Night that will take place September 14 at The Abbey in downtown Orlando.
This interactive date night event begins with a hilarious interpretation of the classic he said/she said Newlywed Game. Six couples will compete on stage for prizes (including an overnight at Bohemian Hotel Celebration and two tickets to the Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Grand Bohemian Hotel) as they demonstrate how well they really know each other.
After this 90-minute show, couples can continue to play classic board games, or take a turn on the dance floor, even playing rounds of Twister, the True or False Derby, and Dance Freeze.
Tickets are $10 per person in advance, and can be purchased at coupled.eventbrite.com. Tickets will be $13 at the door. Doors open at 6:45pm, and the show starts at 7:30pm. The Abbey is located at 100 S. Eola Dr.
The event is sponsored by Great Dates Orlando, which has been kind enough to give us two tickets to give away to our readers.

Though he usually sits alone on stage, Zach Deputy’s one-man show of “Island-infused, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Gospel-Ninja-Soul” has the energy and sound of a 6-piece band.
Using a technique called “live looping,” he uses technology to back himself and his guitar. His high energy performances have earned him spots in many festivals, like Wanee Festival and Bear Creek Music Fest (both in Live Oak, FL).
Deputy released his latest CD, Another Day, in September 2012, and features 11 tracks produced with Grammy award-winning Scott Jacoby over the course of just five days. You can visit his site for some free downloads to check out his music.
On December 01, 2012, Deputy will be performing downtown at The Abbey. Tickets are $15 in advance/$18 at the door. Show starts at 8pm.
If you want a taste of what he’s like live, here’s a video shot at Bear Creek Music Festival earlier this month:
