One of the biggest annual events at Walt Disney World is Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Full of celebrity encounters, characters, shows, merchandise, and more, it’s a Star Wars fan’s dream.
This year, Star Wars Weekends will be held over five weekends in May and June, with different celebrities from the Star Wars universe in attendence. Walt Disney World has finally announced the guests that will be attending, so mark your calendars for these dates:
Just in time for this year’s Star Wars Weekends, Walt Disney World will be debuting two limited-time Star Wars themed dining experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Beginning May 4 – or as known in the Star War universe, Star Wars Day – guests will be able to partake in both breakfast and dinner with Disney characters dressed up in their best Star Wars garb.
“Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast” will be held at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. The screen, which normally shows classic drive-in trailers and ads, will show clips from the Star Wars saga as guests dine on breakfast. There will be characters present during the meal.
Walt Disney World has announced the first guest for this year’s Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and it’s a big one…actor Mark Hamill.
Hamill portrayed the iconic Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episodes IV-VI, and this will be his first appearance at the event.
He is scheduled to appear during the fourth weekend, June 6-8, 2014. He will be participating in the daily “Legends of the Force” Star Wars-themed motorcade and in a featured talk show. Unfortunately, he will not be signing autographs.
Star Wars Weekends, one of the most popular theme park events in Orlando, is expanding in 2014 to five weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This year’s theme is “Join the Rebellion,” and the event will take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the following dates:
Weekend I: May 16 – 18, 2014
Weekend II: May 23 – 25, 2014
Weekend III: May 30 – June 1, 2014
Weekend IV: June 6 – 8, 2014
Weekend V: June 13 – 15, 2014
No guests have been listed yet, but James Arnold Taylor will return to Star Wars Weekends 2014 as the event’s official celebrity host. He is the voice of hundreds of animated characters, including Obi-Wan Kenobi on “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
Unfortunately word comes that Disney will be ending the popular Hyperspace Hoopla during Star Wars Weekends, replacing it with a nightly fireworks featuring Star Wars music. That’s sad as it was one of the main reasons I went every year. I loved the Hyperspace Hoopla and the dance-off.
Star Wars Weekend activities and guests are included with regular park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
CitySurfing Orlando popped into Disney’s Hollywood Studios this holiday weekend and managed to catch the Star Wars Weekends version of Motorcade of Stars. Celebrity guests in the parade included Ray Park (Darth Maul) and Warwick Davis (Wicket the Ewok).
