Disney’s Hollywood Studios Invites You to ‘Rock Your Summer Side’ Through August 2014

Disney's Hollywood Studios Rock Your Summer SideThis weekend, Disney’s Hollywood Studios starts a nightly dance party, inviting guests to “Rock Your Summer Side” each evening from 6pm-10pm.

A live band will play the Sorcerer’s Hat Icon Stage, and between sets a DJ will spin summer hits. Joining in the party will be some of your fave Disney characters, including Mickey and the gang, dressed for fun in the sun.

The “Rock Your Summer Side” Dance Party starts today and continues all summer long, nightly through August 22.

This event is included with your regular park admission.

Rock Your Disney Side May 23-24 as the Magic Kingdom Stays Open 24 Hours

Disney Parks will kick off the summer travel season with a 24-hour, coast-to-coast celebration that invites guests to “Rock Your Disney Side” starting with the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.

Magic Kingdom FireworksThe park will be open from 6am Friday, May 23, to 6am Saturday, May 24, 2014, and will include special character appearances and events.

A cast of Disney Villains will have a special place in the Magic Kingdom 24-hour celebration, including Maleficent, Cruella De Vil and such rarely spotted miscreants as the Big Bad Wolf, Stromboli from “Pinocchio,” and Bowler Hat Guy from “Meet the Robinsons.” They will appear in locations throughout the park and also join in the “It’s Good to Be Bad” cavalcade preceding Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade.

Walt Disney World Announces Dates and Guests for Star Wars Weekends 2012

One of the most popular annual events at Walt Disney World is Star Wars Weekends, which occurs at the tail end of every spring for four consecutive weekend.

The guest list for each weekend has been released, along with the celebrity hosts.

James Arnold Taylor, who provides the voice for Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars animated TV series, will serve as the Official Celebrity Host for all four weekends.

Joining him all four weekends will be Ashley Eckstein, who provides the voice of Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars. She will host “Behind the Force,” a behind the scenes glimpse at her show.

The 2012 dates and guests have been released and they are:

May 18-20 –

  • Ray Park — Darth Maul, Star Wars: Episode I (The Phantom Menace)
  • Jerome Blake – Rune Haako/Mas Amedda, Star Wars: Episode I (The Phantom Menace)

Fossil Fest Returns to Orlando Science Center in March 2012

If your family has any budding paleontologists, you’ll want to mark your calendar for March 17, 2012. This is when Fossil Fest returns to the Orlando Science Center for its sixth year.

There will be presentations from fossil experts, bones on display and more. Peter L. Larson, founder and president of Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, Inc. located in South Dakota, will appear via Skype as he conducts a seminar on extinction theories for the K-T extinction – the one that killed the dinosaurs about 65 million years ago.

The event takes place from 11am to 4pm, and is included with general admission to the Orlando Science Center. Admission is priced at $17 for adults and $12 for kids (ages 3-11). For more information, please call 407.514.2000 or visit www.osc.org.
