In less than a month since it debuted on the SyFy Channel, the movie “Sharknado” has become a cult phenomenom. So why not bring it to the big screen?

On August 2, for one night only, Regal Entertainment Group is bringing “Sharknado” to theaters for a midnight showing.

If you’re unfamiliar with the movie, the plot – if you can call it that – centers on a freak hurricane that hits the Los Angeles area. Unfortunately, along with huge walls of water, thousands of sharks are brought on land to terrorize the waterlogged citizens.

Yes, it sounds like the makings of a bad movie, and it honestly is, but during the first airing of the movie, Sharknado accumulated more than 600,000 social media mentions online. Subsequent airings accumulated even bigger TV ratings.

Add to this the fact that a sequel set in New York City has been rumored, and this is your chance to see what all the talk is about.

Tickets are $12.50, and can be purchased in advance at regmovies.com. In the Orlando area, Sharknado will be showing at Regal Pointe Orlando, Regal Waterford Lakes, and Regal Winter Park Village.
