Out and About: Disney on Ice at the Amway Center in Orlando on Sept 13, 2013

Friday night we got to see the very first show of the Disney on Ice tour at the Amway Center. The theme was Princesses and Heroes, and the show featured vignettes from Disney’s most popular princess stories.

After an introduction by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Tinkerbell skated us into the first story, Aladdin, complete with a skating camel (not really – it was two humans skating together in a camel costume), Jasmine, and Genie.

Snow White was next, and there was even an appearance by the seven dwarfs. Belle was next, then the Little Mermaid herself, Ariel. The skating Ursula was one of my favorite costumes.

There was an intermission in the middle of Ariel’s story, then she was followed by Tiana from The Princess and the Frog.

Princess Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty was next, and Maleficent came out with a dragon that actually “breathed” fire on the ice. Very cool!

Cinderella was brought out in a regal carriage, after the Prince had danced with her evil stepsisters. Then she and the prince danced together.

The final princess was Rapunzel, and after her story, all the princesses and princes/heroes came out for a group skate, with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Tinkerbell.

I enjoyed the skating, as did the rest of our group, including 8-year old Abby. But we all agreed the music chosen was the highlight, as we were singing along to most every track.

Did you go to see Disney on Ice this weekend? If so, what did you think of it?
