Paul Simon and Sting, two of music’s most renowned and enduring artists, will embark on a concert tour together throughout North America in early 2014 that will arrive in Orlando at the Amway Center on March 16. It will be called the On Stage Together tour.
The two have been friends for years, and both have explored world rhythms and pushed the boundaries of popular music.
Paul Simon helped define the folk rock sound of the late 60s as half of Simon & Garfunkel, then went on to a solo career that has spanned several decades with hits as varied as “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes,” and “You Can Call Me Al.”
Sting has just released his first studio album in ten years, titled The Last Ship. It continues a long line of releases that incorporate jazz, reggae, classical, and world beat into his pop sound. And lets not forget he was at the forefront of pop rock in the early 80s with The Police. His many hits include “Message in a Bottle,” “We’ll Be Together,” “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” and “If I Ever Lose My Faith In You.”
At the show, the audience will be treated to solo performances by each artist and their bands, before the two legends join together on stage for a collaborative set.
How cool is that??
