Peter Hook & The Light are kicking off their southern states tour with a weekend of Florida dates that include a stop at Plaza Live Orlando on Sunday, April 19.
Peter Hook is a lead vocalist and bassist who first rose to fame as co-founder of post-punk synth-influenced band Joy Division in the late 70s. Released during the summer of 1980, “Love Will Tear Us Apart” became the band’s biggest charting single.
Following the death of Joy Division’s lead singer Ian Curtis, the band reformed as the modern rock band, New Order, and combined their former post-punk sound with electronic dance music, which made them popular in the club scene of the early 80s. Their best known hit is 1983’s “Blue Monday,” which is said to be the best-selling 12-inch single of all-time. Hook left the band in 2007.
Since then, he has still continued writing, recording, and touring with his band, The Light.
