One of the nice things about living in Orlando is there are so many ways to enjoy holidays like the 4th of July. But did you know some of the Disney resorts also participate?
Out at Downtown Disney to see movies on July 3, my friend and I decided to take the water shuttle over to Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside resort and got there just as they were setting up for a 4th of July celebration in the lobby courtyard.
During my afternoon at Magic Kingdom, I took in the Dream Along With Mickey stage show at Cinderella’s Castle.
The story to this show starts as Minnie, Goofy, and Donald prepare for a big party. Mickey arrives and tells Donald everyone believes in dreams, but he isn’t convinced.
Around dusk (on this day, it was 6pm), during the Holiday season, Cinderella’s Holiday Wish takes place at Magic Kingdom, in front of the castle.
It is a stage show that ushers in the lighting of Cinderella’s castle for the evening in its Holiday sparkly lights.
Mickey and Minnie start the show, and are joined by Goofy and Donald, all dressed in their Holiday finest.
Cirque du Soleil’s 15th anniversary performance of La Nouba included a “magical moment” with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on December 18.
La Nouba opened to the public on December 23, 1998, and was created exclusively for Walt Disney World. Cirque du Soleil and Walt Disney Imagineering worked together to design the stage and the theater.
It has an international cast, and more than 20 percent of the original cast is still performing with the show.
La Nouba has performed more than 7,000 shows in its 15 years, and hopefully will for another 15. It is one of my favorite Cirque du Soleil shows.
If you want to see it, there are seats as low as $69 for select shows through the end of this month.
Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer Carrie Underwood visited Walt Disney World this week.
She was on vacation with her husband, NHL star Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators. During their visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 24, they met up with Minnie Mouse in front of the Tree of Life.

Medical expert and best-selling author Dr. Ian Smith visited Walt Disney World this weekend with his family.
Smith, who co-stars on the VH1 reality show “Celebrity Fit Club,” and occasionally appears on “The Today Show,” met up with Nurse Minnie Mouse in this photo from Disney’s Hollywood Studios today.
