Earlier this year, Bananas A Modern American Diner on Mills Ave closed to make way for Mills Brewpub. The popular drag queen entertainment at Bananas was then shuttled off to Funky Monkey Bistro and Bar on International Drive, owned by the same people.
Well, that didn’t last long.
Word comes this week that Mills Brewpub has closed to make way for the Divas Dinner Theatre, which opens today at 924 N. Mills Ave.
Bananas Modern American Diner announced on their Facebook page last night that after their Mother’s Day Brunch this Sunday, May 11, they will close their doors for good.
After four years of great food and entertainment, parent company FMI Restaurant Group has decided to utilize the space for a new beer and dining venue called Mills Brewpub.
They expect to open the brewpub sometime in July, after completely renovating the space that Bananas currently occupies. You can keep posted on updates at millsbrewpub.com.
Bananas famous Gospel Brunch will be relocating to FMI’s Funkey Monkey Point Orlando location on Sundays at noon.
I’ll be sad to lose Bananas, but according to the comments on the announcement, at least many employees will be finding a home either at the brewpub or at other FMI venues.
So if you want to enjoy Bananas Modern American Diner one last time (or for the first time), you have until this Sunday to do so. They’re located at 924 N. Mills Ave in Orlando.
