Gainsville’s Less Than Jake will be playing the House of Blues February 3, on a bill with Reel Big Fish and Authority Zero.
Less Than Jake — currently comprised of lyricist/drummer Vinnie Fiorello, vocalist/guitarist Chris DeMakes, vocalist/bassist Roger Manganelli, saxophonist Peter “JR” Wasilewski, and trombonist Buddy Schaub — released their debut 20 years ago. In that time, they have built quite a following with their ska punk sound, and their interactions with their fans.
Along with past hits, like “History of a Boring Town” and “The Science of Selling Yourself Short,” the band is also still putting out new music. They just released their newest single, “American Idle,” from the album See the Light. Fiorello says it’s one of his favorite songs off the album.
The 14th Annual Florida Music Festival will feature more than 150 bands on 10 stages over 3 nights in downtown Orlando from April 24-26, 2014.
If you’re a music lover, this fest is for you, as you’ll hear everything from regional and local lesser-knowns to nationally recognized acts…and at a really wallet-friendly price.
Admission is only $10 per night, or $30 for the whole weekend. I mean, who offers 150 bands for only $30 anymore? This is a wonderful opportunity to check out a bunch of bands live.
The event is spread out over several venues – Backbooth, Bullitt Bar, Cafe Annie’s, Elixir, Firestone Live, Magnolia, The Social, Tanqueray’s, and two stages at Wall St. Plaza – all within a several block walking radius of each other.
Hailing from Gainesville, Less Than Jake – comprised of lyricist/drummer Vinnie Fiorello, vocalist/guitarist Chris DeMakes, vocalist/bassist Roger Manganelli, saxophonist Peter “JR” Wasilewski, and trombonist Buddy Schaub – formed over 20 years ago and are still going strong.
