One of my go-to comfort foods has always been the grilled cheese sandwich, which is why I was happy to hear Tom+Chee was opening their first Florida store in Lake Buena Vista.
I had the chance to try a few of their menu items this week, and I have to say it takes my fave comfort food to another level.
Tom+Chee first gained national exposure when they appeared on an episode of Shark Tank, but they’ve also appeared on ABC’s “The Chew,” Travel Channel’s “Man vs Food Nation,” and NBC’s “The Today Show” where they were named one of America’s best new sandwiches.
Driving through The Crossroads shopping center in Lake Buena Vista recently, I spotted banners for a new Tom+Chee restaurant, soon to open.
Tom+Chee is an eatery specializing in grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup (aka Tom + Chee). Owners Trew Quackenbush and Corey Ward opened their first location in Cincinnati in 2009, appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in May 2013, and the concept just exploded.
Noodles & Company has many locations around the country, but on March 3, they are opening their first Orlando-area location in Lake Buena Vista, and we went to try it out.
Located in the Crossroads Shopping Plaza, at the intersection of State Rd 535 and Hotel Plaza Blvd, near Downtown Disney, this restaurant offers a variety of noodle and pasta dishes, as well as soups, salads, and sandwiches.
There is a huge menu board on the wall leading from the entrance to the counter, so you have plenty of time to decide what to eat. There are also smaller menus you can carry in line.
One of the best things about Noodle & Company’s menu is that each dish is customizable. You can add meat (pork, steak, grilled chicken or seafood) or have it vegetarian. You can also request things be omitted from the dish, because each one is cooked to order.
