Next year, Harry Potter fans will have one more reason to visit the Orlando area.
That is because it has been announced that Kissimmee was chosen by the International Quidditch Association to host the World Cup VI games in 2013.
Though in the books and movies, the game is played by Potter and his schoolmates on flying broomsticks, in real life, players run with the brooms, instead. The IQA says it’s similar to rugby, but also has aspects of soccer, dodgeball, and basketball.
The exact location hasn’t been announced yet, but the dates are April 13 and 14.
If you want to get involved, but don’t play, the IQA is currently accepting applications for volunteers. There is a long list of open positions that you can apply for online.
