The new $200 million development I-Drive Live is stating that everything, including the attractions, will be open by New Year’s Eve 2014.
This includes the Orlando Eye, a 425-ft observation wheel, similar to the one in London. The foundation has already been poured, and building will begin this fall.
Also opening that day will be the Orlando location of Madame Tussauds wax museum, and the 25,000-sq-ft Sea Life Aquarium.
But you won’t have to wait until then to enjoy some of I-Drive Live’s offerings. Kings Bowl Orlando is already open, and several restaurants are expected to open Spring 2014, including Yard House, Seafood Republic, Buffalo Wild Wings, Outback Steakhouse, and Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
I-Drive Live will be located on International Drive, just south of Sand Lake Rd, on the spot where The Mercado once stood.
Darden Restaurants has announced that they will bring their Yard House brand to Orlando in the Spring of 2014.
The location will be on International Drive at the new I-Drive Live development on the former site of the Mercado, just south of Sand Lake Dr.
Yard House is an upscale-casual American eatery (burgers, sandwiches, tacos, steaks, pastas, etc.) that is best known for having more than 100 international, craft and specialty ales and lagers on tap.
I visited the one in downtown San Diego a few years back, and I enjoyed it. I visited during happy hour, with some great drink specials.
Reportedly the Orlando location will have over 14,000-sq-ft, with a seating capacity of 400. It will be the 6th Florida location for the brand.
