The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin will host Sandtastic Weekends for an end of the summer blow-out August 26-28 and September 2-4.
Open to both resort guests and the public, the event will feature activities for all ages, with the highlight being 100 tons of intricately sculpted sand art designed by award-winning world-class sculptors from Team Sandtastic and constructed right on the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort’s private beach.

Artegon Marketplace will be celebrating their first anniversary this week with the Anti-Ordinary Anniversary Week Spectacular, a line-up of free events that you won’t want to miss.
The festivities start Monday, November 16, with Sip. Stroll. Shop. From 6-9pm, guests can enjoy free samples from more than ten wine tasting stations scattered throughout the shopping center, while enjoying live jazz and Flamenco music. RHONJ star Melissa Gorga will also be on hand, meeting her fans. Be among the first 150 shoppers in line at the anniversary edition of the Wine Stroll and receive a commemorative Artegon-embossed stemless wine glass.
There are a lot of great food trucks operating in Central Florida, and on Saturday, November 14, many of them will be participating in Food Truck Wars at Artegon Marketplace in Orlando.
Over 40 trucks will be competing for culinary fame, and will be rated by celebrity judges, including Jim Whaples (Florida Restaurant & Lodging Assc, American Culinary Federation), and Tchop Chop’s executive chef, Amy Gilbert.
There’s so much happening in the Orlando and Central Florida dining scene lately, so here’s some of the hottest news you need to know this week.
Tijuana Flats is bringing back their Atom Bombs for the month of September only. These are a cross between their flautas and a jalapeno popper, featuring cream cheese and fresh jalapenos stuffed inside a wrapped and lightly fried flour tortilla. I’m told they will be $4.49 while available.
The City of Edgewood, located just south of downtown Orlando, will be kicking off their new 1st Saturdays Food Truck Extravaganza on Saturday, August 1.
This is a free family event that will offer at least six food trucks to choose from, along with music from a DJ. The event will take place at Raymond A. Bagshaw Park at Edgewood City Hall (405 Larue Ave) from 6-9pm.
March is an event-filled month for Artegon Marketplace in Orlando. Enjoy craft beer, wine, food, and more throughout the month.
The shopping center is kicking off a new monthly event on Tuesday, March 10 called The Art of Beer. It will feature craft beer from Orlando Brewing, along with samples of the menu at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. There will also be live entertainment. Best of all, it’s free while supplies last.
The Art of Beer runs from 5pm to 8pm. It will repeat on April 14.
Word comes from Disney that several of their Downtown Disney food trucks will be getting new menu items for guests to enjoy.
Superstar Catering, inspired by the food at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will be getting a whole new trio of items. There will be a pork shank with a side of Gruyere mac & cheese, a sausage and carmalized onion flatbread, and the “Taste of Hollywood Studios” sampler featuring the BLT Soup from Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant and the Famous Cobb Salad and mini grapefruit cake from The Hollywood Brown Derby.
LYNX, Orlando’s public bus system, will host Tunes in the Terminal, a month-long concert series at its downtown terminal during the month of July.
Each Tuesday, starting at 11:30am, there will be a free hour-long performance by a Central Florida musician or band. During the event, there will also be a local food truck, providing lunch for purchase.

Walt Disney World will highlight its food truck offerings during the park’s first ever Food Truck Rally, Saturday, June 21.
The event will take place in the Downtown Disney West Side courtyard next to Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues, from 5pm to 10pm. But it won’t be just Disney food trucks participating. Several local food trucks will also be at the event, in partnership with Mark Baratelli’s Food Truck Bazaar (check our events calendar for more of his events).
