Hope CommUnity Center in Apopka provides essential food and supplies to immigrant families and other community members facing difficult economic circumstances, and right now, the pantry’s shelves are getting low, so Hope is asking the Central Florida community for help to keep food available for the families who depend on this resource.
Imagination and generosity took center stage at Dezerland Park Orlando this past weekend as teams of local architects, engineers and designers came together for another addition of CANstruction Orlando, transforming thousands of canned and nonperishable food items into larger-than-life sculptures, all to help fight hunger in Central Florida.
Darden Restaurants has announced it is partnering with Feeding America and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to increase access to food for those in need in Orlando, via refrigerated trucks.
Local hip hop recording artist Tony Brikk is aiming to raise $25,000 during the month of November for local Orlando food banks with the release of his new single, “Body Clash.”
The fight against hunger is a cause that runs deep in Tony’s heart. Earlier this year, he was homeless and living in an abandoned house for over six months, so he’s all too familiar with what it is like to go without a meal for a day.
So for the month of November 2013, he will donate sales of the single (via iTunes and Amazon MP3) to help fund local food banks via his Dance Against Hunger campaign.
