In 1990 Extreme‘s Pornograffitti album came out, and I was blown away by how good it was from start to finish. It was rock with a touch of funk and a lot of attitude, with some beautiful ballads thrown in.
Flash forward 25 years, and I’m waiting inside the House of Blues Orlando, waiting to hear Extreme perform the entire Pornograffitti album live. Yes, I’d heard most of the songs live in various concerts over the years, but this would be the first time I would hear the album played all the way through.
Rock band Extreme are on tour, and will be in Orlando on Wednesday, April 15, for a show at the House of Blues Orlando.
Extreme was one of the most popular rock acts in the late 1980s and 90s. They broke onto the scene with their single “Kid Ego,” but it was their album 1990 album Pornograffitti that put them on the map. That album had several hits, including “Decadence Dance,” “Hole Hearted,” and my personal favorite, “Get the Funk Out.”
It’s “More than Words” that everybody remembers them best for, however, even though it’s very different from the funk-rock sound of the rest of the album. The single was the band’s first number one, and even got them nominated for a Grammy.
