The result is Emeril’s Tchoup Chop, one of the signature restaurants at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando.

The chef recently revamped the lunch menu, and we were invited to come check it out.

On May 6, the 2013 James Beard Foundation Awards were announced and two of the winners have restaurants in the Orlando area.

Melissa Kelly won Best Chef: Northeast for her PRIMO restaurant in Rockland, Maine. She also owns PRIMO at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.

Emeril Lagasse received the Humanitarian of the Year award for his work with the New Orleans-based Emeril Lagasse Foundation. He owns both Emeril’s Orlando at Universal Orlando CityWalk, and Emeril’s Tchoup Chop at Universal’s Loews Royal Pacific Resort.

The James Beard Awards are like the Grammys of the restaurant industry, so this is a big honor for those who received the awards.

Emeril’s Orlando Restaurants to Participate in Julia Child’s 100th Birthday Celebration

This week, celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse posted on his Facebook page that nine of his restaurants will be participating in a celebration of would have been Julia Child’s 100th birthday.

Emeril’s Orlando at Universal CityWalk and Emeril’s Tchoup Chop (at Loew’s Royal Pacific Resort at Universal) will be among those nine.

From August 7th through August 15th (Child’s birthdate), there will be a special birthday menu available to guests to order from. I’m not sure if it will be a set menu or if there will be choices available. Lagasse says he’ll post more information on the menus closer to the event.

At any rate, I would recommend making reservations, as this is sure to be a popular event. Emeril’s Orlando can be reached at 407-224-2424 and Tchoup Chop’s phone is 407-503-2467.
