Watching a performer smash cake into an enthusiastic fan’s face sounds like something that would happen at a Blue Man Group show, not an EDM concert.
But when the EDM performer in question is Steve Aoki, all bets are off.
On June 30, 101.9 AMP Radio‘s Electric Bounce House packed the House of Blues Orlando with local and visiting EDM fans for an extended lineup of DJs performing, finishing the evening with headliner Aoki and the popular singer Bebe Rexha.

It’s been eight years since my last EDM festival. In between Ultra Music Festival 2008 and Sunset Music Festival 2016, my exposure to the EDM scene was limited to attending various events at clubs in my hometown of Orlando (including the memorable experience of seeing DeadMau5 at Firestone). Sunset Music Festival was a great reintroduction to the scene.

Savoy, an electronic rock trio, is bringing their national headlining tour, “The 1000 Light Years Tour,” to The Social in Orlando on January 8.
Comprised of Gray Smith (producer), Ben Eberdt (guitarist) and Mike Kelly (drummer), they are touring in support of their latest EP, 1000 Years, which was released on December 2, 2015. It features the first single “Love Is Killing Me (ft. Chali 2na).” The track–featuring Chali 2na of the acclaimed alternative hip-hop group Jurassic 5—has received critical praise since its release last month.
“’Love is Killing Me’ is a special track to us,” says SAVOY. “We had the idea a while ago, and right then we knew we had something really cool. It’s got a relaxed, grooving vibe, yet still packs a ton of energy as well.”
Tickets to the show are $15 in advance at thesocial.org, and $17 at the door.
