Disney’s Art of Animation Opens The Little Mermaid Wing September 15

Opening in segments, Disney’s Art of Animation finally opened its fourth and final wing this last weekend.

.

This section is themed with characters and scenes from the classic Disney film, The Little Mermaid.

Like the previous three wings – themed to Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King – large displays outside recreate moments from the movie. These include multi-story tall dioramas featuring Ariel, King Triton, Ursula, and (my personal favorite) Sebastian.

What is different, however, is that rooms in this wing of the resort are standard rooms, not the family suites found in the other three wings. The rooms are decorated with a sea theme, including seashell headboards and a blue and green color scheme.

This section of the resort also has the Flippin’ Fins pool, one of three on property.

Rates for rooms in The Little Mermaid wing start at $94.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Opens Lion King Wing Today

Walt Disney World has been unveiling their new resort, Disney’s Art of Animation, in segments.

.

Today, the third wing, themed for fans of the hit film, The Lion King, opens at the resort. Like the previously opened wings – one Finding Nemo themed and one Cars themed – the nods to the Lion King are present both inside and outside.

Large displays outside recreate moments from the movie, including Pride Rock and the Hakuna Matata scene. Inside, it’s a jungle for guests, with plenty of Lion King-themed decor. I particularly like the Timon and Pumba shower curtain in the bathroom.

Like the other two wings, this Lion King section has family suites, not regular guest rooms. The 320 suites in this wing feature two bathrooms, a kitchenette, and three separate sleeping areas that can sleep up to six guests.

Rates start at $248 per night.

The Little Mermaid-themed final wing will open September 15, 2012. It will feature 864 standard guest rooms that sleep four, with rates starting at $94.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Opens Second Wing Dedicated to Cars

After opening last month with a splash, with a wing dedicated to the hit film Finding Nemo, Disney’s Art of Animation resort opened its second wing this month.

Dedicated to the Disney/Pixar film Cars, a freshly paved road leads guests right into the heart of Radiator Springs. And of course, when in town, all guests stay at the Cozy Cone Motel.

The family-style suites are even decorated to keep with the Cars theme, with such detailed touches as a tool chest dresser.

This area has its own pool, the Cozy Cone Pool, and the exterior decor of the buildings really do make you feel like you’ve just stepped into the movie.

Family suite rates range from $248 in value season to $425 in peak season (usually Easter and the winter holidays). It is a bit more than the average Disney value resort room, but these suites have a separate bedroom area, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, and can sleep up to six.

Disney’s Art of Animation resort still has two more wings to debut. WDW says that the Lion King wing of family suites will open August 10, 2012, followed by the Little Mermaid wing of standard rooms on September 15, 2012.
