Hot on the heels of announcing the closing of Magic of Disney Animiation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World announced this morning they will also be closing DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney.
As part of its Disney Springs renovations, Walt Disney World signed a contract to bring the NBA Experience to the resort. It appears the NBA Experience will be going in the building that now houses DisneyQuest.
Walt Disney World confirmed this morning that they are completely banning selfie sticks from its parks, effective Tuesday, June 30.
Previously Disney had banned selfie sticks from certain rides, but under the new policy, the sticks won’t be allowed in the parks at all. They will also be banned from the Walt Disney World water parks, and at DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney.
For the first year ever, DisneyQuest at Walt Disney World is throwing a Halloween party that will be fun for the entire family on October 31.
There will be unlimited DisneyQuest games, two DJ dance parties, photo ops and of course, trick-or-treating amongst the five floors of the building. Dressing up is encouraged and there will be a costume contest, with lots of prizes.
The party will also feature character meet ‘n’ greets with the likes of Buzz Lightyear, Chip ‘n Dale, Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz.

Several of the venues at Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney will be offering special events to ring in the new year of 2013.
Here is a sampling of ways to celebrate:
DisneyQuest This interactive gaming location will host a special New Year’s Eve event beginning at 8pm. It will feature two DJ dance parties, a meal and beverage, access to all DisneyQuest attractions, meet-and-greets with Disney characters, and a New Year’s Eve countdown and confetti drop at midnight. Tickets cost $50 per person and are available online or by calling 407-934-7639. Day-of tickets can be purchased at DisneyQuest for $60.
House of Blues The reggae band SOJA will take the stage at 9pm on New Year’s Eve, with opening acts Rootz Underground and Beebs & Her Money Makers. Tickets cost $37-$40, and the concert is open to guests of all ages.
La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil All guests attending the December 31 performances will receive a limited-edition Walt Disney World Resort/Cirque trading pin. Shows are at 6pm and 9pm. For tickets, contact 407-WDW-SEAT.
Raglan Road New Year’s fun begins at 6pm with house band Creel and Irish dancing. In addition to great food, the pub will also offer complimentary champagne toasts at 7pm and midnight.
Splitsville Luxury Lanes It just opened this month, so it will host its first New Year’s Eve party for ages 21 and up, featuring great food and beverages, a DJ, dancing, pool tables and more. Special Bowling Packages cost $175 per person (minimum 4 people) and includes 3.5 hours of bowling and shoe rental, choice of one appetizer and one entrée per person, two drink tickets, one bottle of champagne or house wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
