The Volusia County Fair returns to Deland to delight families for the 70th year from November 6 – 16.
The fair features a midway with rides, live entertainment throughout the day, a petting zoo for the kids, a model railroad display, and much more.
Headline entertainment includes: country musicians Parmalee on Saturday, November 8; the Rockin’ 60’s Party Tour featuring Paul Revere’s Raiders and Mitch Ryder for two shows on Tuesday, November 11; and country musician Cole Swindell on Saturday, November 15. All headline entertainment is free with paid Fair gate admission.
The feature film Walt Before Mickey has been spotted filming in locations around the city of DeLand, on the north side of Orlando.
Based on the book of the same name, Walt Before Mickey covers the early years of Walt Disney’s career. It stars Thomas Ian Nicholas (American Pie movies, “Party of Five”) as Walt Disney, Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) as Roy Disney, and Jodie Sweetin (“Full House”) as Charlotte Disney. Also appearing are David Henrie (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), and Hunter Gomez (National Treasure, “Family Guy”).
One of the locations the movie has been seen using is the historic Athens Theater in downtown DeLand.
Actress Sweetin has been posting cool behind the scenes photos on her WhoSay account, and the official Walt Before Mickey Facebook page has been posting some stills from the movie.
According to IMDB, Walt Before Mickey is scheduled to be released this summer.
The 2013 Volusia County Fair will return to DeLand for ten days from November 7 – 10.
Opening night on Thursday is free admission for all, courtesy of Bright House and Duke Energy. There are also special discount days from Nov 11-14.
Otherwise, admission is $8 advance/$10 at the gate for adults (13 and older), and $4 advance/$5 at gate for ages 6-12.
Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $15 at select Walgreens until Nov 8. After that, prices range from $12 to $25 for the wristbands.
Included with admission are concerts by headliners such as Diamond Rio, Casey James, The Original Drifters, and The Platters.

The fair runs from November 4-14 and features the normal fair stuff: a midway of games and rides, animal displays and all the carnival food that is so bad for you but tastes so good.
There is also live entertainment, which is included in the gate admission. Enjoy special concerts by country artists John Michael Montgomery on November 5, Brenda Lee on November 9 and Jason Michael Carroll on November 13.
Admission is $8 per adult most days, with discounts available for children ages 6-12. Some days also have special discount promotions for admission. The full calendar of gate and ride prices can be found on the Volusia County Fair website.
