When a band is made up of musicians that you’ve loved in other bands, you expect it to be good. Such was the case when I saw The Dead Daisies at the Hard Rock Live Orlando on August 3.

The band opened for Whitesnake, and I really enjoyed their set. They came out and started off with the high energy track, “Mexico,” off their new album, Revolución.

Whitesnake is a band most people associate with the late 80s/early 90s hard rock scene, but truth is the band is still touring and recording. They also still have a huge following of fans, as the Hard Rock Live Orlando was packed on August 3.

Their newest release is this year’s The Purple Album, and it is an homage to the band Deep Purple, which Whitesnake’s David Coverdale sang in during the 70s. The set-list was a mixture of songs from that album as well as classic Whitesnake hits.

I first heard of the rock band Fozzy years ago when I was a music buyer at the Virgin Megastore here in Orlando. I was already a fan of Chris Jericho from his day job as a WWE wrestler, but now he was fronting a hard rock band? Always open-minded, I popped in their debut cd and loved what I heard.

Fast forward more than a decade, and I was invited to check out Fozzy live when they played the House of Blues Orlando on December 11. Of course, I said “Yes!”
