If you love all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comics, and collectibles, you’ll want to be at the grand opening of Orlando’s newest shop, Gods and Monsters, located at Artegon Marketplace.
Built from the ground up, Gods and Monsters is subtly separated into a salefloor, a bar/lounge/gaming area, and an art gallery.
It grand opens on Saturday, July 13 (today!) at 10am with a ribbon cutting ceremony. All day long, there will be art demos, appearances by critically acclaimed Victorian horror troupe Phantasmagoria, photo ops with costumed characters in exchange for donations to the Hero Initiantive charity, and free arcade games sponsored by Free Play Florida and BART. There will also be a costume contest with prizes to be held at 8pm, so feel free to cosplay.
What do you call 20,000 square feet of space filled with new comics, old comics, graphic novels, trade paperbacks, action figures, collectables, toys, statues, tabletop and roleplaying games and gaming products, a healthy mixture of sci-fi and fantasy books, original art, and events featuring industry professionals, as well as a themed-lounge serving artisan drinks?
If you keep up with such things, you call it the largest comic book and related interests retail outlet in the world.
If you’re co-owners Anna Young and Todd Fisher, you call it Central Florida’s soon-to-open comics, sci-fi, and fantasy megastore: Gods & Monsters.
If you like comics, graphic novels and/or zombies, you’ll definitely want to be at A Comic Shop in Winter Park for this special event.
On Thursday, June 30, 2011, Charlie Adlard will be making an appearance at the store. Adlard is the artist of “The Walking Dead” graphic novels, which are the basis for the popular TV series of the same name.
He will be appearing from 4pm to 8pm to meet his fans, sign autographs and take photos with.
If you don’t have anything for him to sign, the store currently has a deal going where if you buy “The Walking Dead” volume 1 for $10, you get volume 2 for free.
A Comic Shop is located at 114 S. Semoran Blvd in Winter Park. For more details, call 407-332-9636 or visit the store’s Facebook page.
