Saturday, April 21st, radio station WJRR (101.1FM) hosted its 25th annual Earthday Birthday at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, and I was in attendance.
Florida’s largest Maker event, Maker Faire Orlando, returns to the Central Florida Fairgrounds the weekend of Oct 21-22 with a ton of fun DIY activities.
Maker Faire Orlando is a non-profit, community-organized, family-friendly celebration featuring local do-it-yourself science, art, rockets, robots, crafts, technology, music, hands-on-activities, and more.
Fun for the whole family, the annual Central Florida Fair returns to the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando from March 2-19, 2017.
Every Wednesday through Sunday during the run, enjoy a midway featuring rides, games, and food, along with live music and entertainment, animals, STEM competitions and events, culinary competitions, and so much more.
At a press conference under The Orlando Eye, the organizers of the upcoming Moonstone Music Festival took to the stage to announce the headliners for this new festival coming to Orlando April 30 and May 1, 2016.
It’s a one-two Classic Rock punch as KISS and Def Leppard were announced as the top headliners for the festival, which will take place at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. KISS will be there Saturday and Def Leppardd will close out Sunday.
Florida’s largest maker event, Maker Faire Orlando, will celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2016 with a slew of big changes.
How big? A new date, new venue, and more space for community maker groups.
As part of a spring tour to support their recent album, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators will take part in WJRR’s Earthday Birthday 22 on April 25 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
Slash, of course, is a legendary guitarist who has performed in bands like Guns N’Roses and supergroup Velvet Revolver. He’s also released several solo albums, including last year’s World on Fire.
Get ready Orlando! The Central Florida Fair returns for its 103rd edition from February 26 through March 8.
If that isn’t enough, there is daily live entertainment, along with headlining concerts on select nights.
Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin will play the Miller Lite Stage the night of February 27. R&B hitmaker Ginuwine takes the stage March 5, while country artist James Otto will entertain the next night, March 6.
All of this is included with fair admission, which is usually $10 for adults, $6 children.
Featuring headliners Mastodon, the roster also includes Gojira, Nonpoint, Puddle of Mudd, Gemini Syndrome, Islander, Crobots, and more.
If that’s not enough to keep your attention, there will also be a car expo and a tattoo expo happening during the festival.

The 102nd Annual Central Florida Fair kicks off Thursday, February 27th, with the Opening Day Ribbon Cutting Event at 6pm. It will run until March 9, 2014 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando.
The whole family will enjoy the Sea Lion Splash Show, Hambone Express Racing Pigs, No-Joes Circus, and Eudora Farms Petting Zoo.
The Fair will also host the Seventh Annual Invitational Cattleman’s Ranch Rodeo, Fifth Annual Youth Ranch Rodeo, LEGO Family Block Party Competition, and Wing Eating Contest.
All of this is free with fair admission of $10 for adults, and $6 for kids (ages 6-10). Children under 5 are free.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to meet bands, as well as enjoy acoustic performances in the sponsor + vendor area. These will be posted on signs at the tents. There’s also plenty of opportunity to shop, check out worthwhile causes, and enjoy skateboard competitions.
Expect it to be crowded and hot, so make sure you keep hydrated and wear sunscreen. You are allowed to bring in one sealed water bottle when you enter the show and that can be continuously filled up at the SIGG Water Hydration Station for free. Vans Warped Tour is an all ages show, and runs 11am to 9pm. Tickets are general admission at $38.50 per person.
The Central Florida Fairgrounds are located at 4603 W. Colonial Blvd. There is plenty of grass parking, but you can also use the Rock & Bus service from many Central Florida locations for an additional fee.
The Central Florida Fair will be celebrating its 101st year in 2013, and it will run for 11 days, from February 28 through March 10.
There will be livestock exhibits, arts and crafts, and plenty of food offerings, along with a midway of rides and games.
Musical entertainment highlights include: JKing & MAXIMAN (presented by Rumba 100.3) on Sunday, March 3; Travis Porter on Monday, March 4; and Trapt (presented by WJRR) on Tuesday, March 5.
Tickets are $8 in advance/$12 at the gate for adults; $5 in advance/$7 at gate for children. Ride vouchers are $20 in advance/$25 at gate. There are also special discounts each night.
