In this week’s dining news round-up, we bring some tasty news about a sushi class, some new eateries, and sadly a closing, plus much more. Ready?
One of my favorite BBQ places, American Q at the B resort & spa, has closed for good. The food was great, but it just didn’t seem to catch on with the locals. I’m told Chef Leo will stay with the hotel when it rebrands and opens with a new concept down the road. Hopefully they’ll find a way to keep the Swine Candy on the menu.
It’s October, and several Orlando-area eateries are doing up special dishes to celebrate Germany’s Oktoberfest. Here’s where you can get a taste:
The Hard Rock Cafe Orlando at Universal Orlando CityWalk will be offering a special OctoberFest Schnitzel burger through October 31. Inspired by Hard Rock Cafe Munich’s Local Legendary Schnitzel Burger and features a lightly breaded tender pork schnitzel, Samuel Adams OctoberFest-infused beer cheese sauce, topped with smoked bacon, tangy sauerkraut, whole grain mustard and fresh arugula, served on a pretzel bun.
American Q restaurant and bar is bringing the party with their new Throwdown Hoedown on Thursday nights.
From 9pm to 1am, choreographer Trevor Thronton will be teaching everyone how to line dance as a DJ plays favorite contemporary country, R&B, and pop favorites.

As if the scrumptious BBQ and other food offerings weren’t enough reason to visit American Q at the b resort & spa, this month they are offering a new holiday themed drinks and dessert.
Fresh from the bar, guests can enjoy the American Q Holiday Toddy. This coffee drink is made with Zaya Gran Reserva Rum, smoked eggnog foam, shaved chocolate, and a dust of fresh grated nutmeg. Also from the bar is the Bourbon and Bacon Hot Cocoa, which is garnished with American Q’s heavenly Swine Candy.
If you’re in the Disney and are looking for a great happy hour, check out the bar at American Q at the B Resort & Spa.
Every day from 4pm to 7pm, American Q offers 1/2 off all drinks. Pair that with some of their great bar bites like the Swine Candy (house smoked bacon roasted with molasses & spice) for $4 or the house made tater tots dusted with bacon salt for $3.50.
If you have more of an appetite, American Q offers an awesome Flatbed Buffet of BBQ goodness, along with an a la carte dinner menu.
American Q is located inside the B Resort & Spa at 1905 Hotel Plaza Blvd. The bar is open 2pm Monday through Friday, and at noon Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit AmericanQ.com.
In celebration of Oktoberfest, the newly opened American Q at the B Resort & Spa features a Brews ’n’ BBQ tasting menu.

Love BBQ? So do I, which is why I was excited to hear about the opening of American Q at the B Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World.
American Q is a Rodizio-style version of a classic BBQ eatery. Executive Chef Justin Leo has curated a menu that highlights several regions of the United States and Latin America in a quest for a well-rounded BBQ flavor palette.
Leo’s farm-to-table menu incorporates made-from-scratch recipes with locally-sourced ingredients. American Q offers Florida Fresh Meats’ grass-fed, hormone free beef and pork as well as free-range chicken.
I had the chance to try the menu recently, at a media event, and the food was simply amazing.
