It looks like the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closing earlier than thought, with a new date given of August 30.

Earlier this summer, Walt Disney World announced the closing of the attraction, based on the popular long-running singing competition TV show, would close sometime in January 2015. But yesterday, word came that closing date had been moved up to the end of this month.

The American Idol Experience opened in 2009, with a star-studded blue-carpet event that included Ryan Seacrest, and former Idol champions like Kelly Clarkson and David Cook.

No word has been given as to what may take over the space, but if the rumors of a Star Wars land expansion are true, it may extend into that area.

Are you going to be sad to see this attraction go? Personally, I never visited it, so I can’t say I will. But I am curious as to what will replace it. As soon as I find out, I’ll let you know.
