Florida Back To School Sales Tax Holiday

Summer break is almost over for school kids in Florida, and the state is holding a Back To School Sales Tax Holiday for the upcoming 2026 school year.

The shopping holiday will run now through August 20th, and will allow Florida shoppers to purchase qualifying back-to-school supplies exempt from tax.

During this holiday period, Florida law directs that no sales tax or local option tax (also known as discretionary sales surtax) will be collected on purchases of:

  • Clothing, footwear, and certain accessories with a sales price of $100 or less per item
  • Most school supplies with a sales price of $50 or less per item
  • Learning aids and jigsaw puzzles with a sales price of $30 or less
  • Personal computers and certain computer-related accessories with a sales price of $1,500 or less, when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use

The sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, public lodging establishment or airport.

So whether you’re buying supplies for your family or for yourself, don’t miss this opportunity to save a little bit on your purchases.
