Orlando Science Center Presents The Science of Wine

Uncork your inner sommelier as you wine, dine, and learn at Orlando Science Center during its 12th Annual Science of Wine fundraising event on April 27, 2024.

The event will feature wines from sought-after regions, provided by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, plus wine slushies made using liquid nitrogen.

New this year:

  • Two 20-minute presentations hosted by Dr. Robin Back from UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management. He will discuss wine making in South Africa and guests will get to sample the Fleur Du Cap 2018 South African Pinotage. The presentations will occur at 8pm and 9pm.
  • Italian wine and cheese pairings in the Food Heroes exhibit, hosted by Advanced Sommelier Melissa McAvoy and Diahann Smith with Florida Dairy Farmers. Taste three boutique Italian wines from the Abruzzo and Piedmont regions and explore the art of pairing cheese with different varietals.
  • Personalize your wine glass with wine charm making in The Hive: A Makerspace and learn about the process of making a wine caddy using a computer numerical control (CNC) machine!
  • Assemble parts made with OSC’s CNC machine to build a wine caddy, and learn about CNC production from the makers on the Orlando Science Center team.

Attendees can have a chance to win a mystery bottle of wine from the Wine Grab and shop the exciting Silent Auction while at the event.

Plus your ticket gives you access to all four floors of the Orlando Science Center, including its newest exhibit, “Life.”

Tickets to Science of Wine are $135 per person; $110 for Orlando Science Center members, and includes the wine and food samples. Attendees must be 21 or older.
