Sonny's BBQ Limited Time Candied Bacon Burger

I recently popped into the Ocoee location of Sonny’s BBQ for lunch while I was on that side of town, and when I saw their limited time Candied Bacon mini-menu was still happening, I knew what I was having.

My friend and I started with a couple of sweet teas to drink, and split an order of Loaded Tots with pulled pork for an appetizer. It was a bigger portion than I expected (yay!), and featured fried golden tots covered in pulled pork, crispy onion straws, queso, and drizzled with Sonny’s BBQ sauce.

We agreed it was delicious, and could’ve just been our entire meal.

We also split the Candied Bacon Burger Big Deal Meal, featuring the candied chipotle bacon, as well as onion straws, and Sonny’s BBQ sweet sauce. The deal also included a side and a drink.

It was a very good burger, but honestly the bacon just tasted like…well, bacon. No sweetness from the candied treatment and no heat or flavor from the chipotle.

I do appreciate our server’s suggestion to get the burger on the garlic Texas toast instead of the bun. Definitely added a flavor boost.

All in all, it was a tasty meal, but…unless they mixed up and gave us regular bacon, this special candied chipotle bacon isn’t worth a special trip to the restaurant.

But I’m definitely going back for the tots. Especially when the closer Lake Buena Vista location opens.
