This week the City of Orlando and the Orlando Magic jointly announced the Amway Center will serve as an early voting location for the upcoming 2020 elections.

The decision is part of a larger initiative spearheaded by NBA teams around the country to increase ease of access to voting during a particularly crucial election cycle.

It will start on National Voter Registration Day, September 22, when the Amway Center will be open for voter registration. This will take place on the north side of Amway Center at the Church Street entrance inside the Disney Atrium from 10am – 2pm.

The deadline to register to vote is October 5 and people can visit registertovoteflorida.gov for more information.

Early voting at the Amway Center will run October 19 – November 1, 8am – 8pm, also inside the Disney Atrium.

All registered voters from Orange County may cast their ballot at the Amway Center location, which is one of 20 early voting locations within Orange County.

Additionally, drive-up ballot boxes will also be available along Church Street in front of the arena for those who prefer to hand deliver their vote-by-mail ballot.

This event is a collaborative effort between the City of Orlando, Orlando Magic, Orange County, and Orange County Supervisor of Elections Bill Cowles (seen in the photo at top).

“As a community, it is so important that we work together to ensure that every eligible voter is able to have their voice heard by making voting accessible and safe,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer in the press release. “The City of Orlando is proud to partner with the Orlando Magic and the Orange County Supervisor of Elections to transform our Amway Center into an early voting site.”

Whether you utilize this polling location or a different one, please get out there and vote in this crucial election. Don’t let others take away your voice and your right to choose!
