Walt Disney World To Cut Theme Park Hours Starting in September .. #WaltDisneyWorld

Walt Disney World Resort

Starting next month, after Labor Day, Walt Disney World will reduce the hours its theme parks will be open.

To be honest, Disney usually reduces hours at this time of the year, but this year they’ve cut hours more than normal.

Starting Sept 8, for an undetermined length of time, Walt Disney World’s updated hours are as follows:

  • Magic Kingdom: 9am to 6pm
  • EPCOT: 11am to 7pm
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 8am to 5pm
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 10am to 7pm

Due to Walt Disney World using a reservations system for park visits, the upcoming reduced hours will make it even more difficult for guests to find reservation availability with capacity being limited for each day.

Earlier this month, Walt Disney CEO Bob Chapek and CFO Christine McCarthy said that Walt Disney World has seen an increased number of cancellations as the park opened during the Florida’s spike of COVID-19 cases.

From a business point of view, cutting hours reduces costs, but from a guest point of view, it provides less incentive to visit, especially since many of the shows and fireworks aren’t happening. Especially with parks closing before dusk.

Hopefully it’s a temporary thing, and park hours get extended around the holidays.

What are your thoughts on Walt Disney World cutting operating hours at the parks?
