The iconic musical RENT is celebrating 20 years with dates at the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday, June 10, 2018, and it’s a feast for senses.

A re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven friends struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. In the end, they realize the only thing that matters is love.

While the play was written in the mid-90s, its messages still ring true today. No matter what trials life puts you through, it’s an easier journey with those you call family.

Lyndie Moe and Aaron Alcarez of RENT

The cast of this 20th Anniversary Tour embodies the spirit of their roles well. Stand-out performances for me were Lyndie Moe as the vivacious free-spirited artist Maureen, and Aaron Alcarez as Angel, a drag queen with a thirst for life and a heart of gold. Vocally and physically, those two stole the show for me.

La Vie Boheme indeed!

This is a great rendition of the musical, and worth seeing while it’s in town.

Tickets for RENT start at $34.25, and are available at drphillipscenter.org, at the venue box office, or via Ticketmaster.
